Kwakiutl Bear Plaque

This hand-carved, braided and painted cedar plaque portrays a black bear in true Kwakiutl style.

Depicted similarly to the wolf in its design, the bear boasts flatly-curved ears, fierce eyes and barred teeth. It is differentiated only by having a shorter snout than its canine, cousin.
