Elk Transformation Mask
Handcarved from red cedar, with natural Elk antlers and fur, this transformation mask is one of Michael's finest creations. The Elk is symbolic of freedom, power, nobility, pace and a balance of energy. To Kwakiutl natives, elk represents a most cherished food source, and is also respected for it's stamina, strength and agility. At a critical point during a potlatch ceremony, a dancer using this mask would pull the strings, transforming from Elk to the man within.
