Dzunukwa Rattle (side view)
This hand carved rattle depicts Dzunukwa (also known as Tsonoqua, Tsonokwa, Wild Woman of the Woods, Giant or Giantess). It is crafted from red cedar wood, and painted using a traditional Kwakiutl palette. There is some irony in this piece, for although Dzunukwa represents weath, she is also known for stealing and eating children! Also see Dzunukwa Mask.
